Bravo Health Partners with the American Heart Association in the Fight Against Heart Disease and Stroke
(PHILADELPHIA, PA — July 10, 2008) — Bravo Health announced today that it is the first company in the nation to join the American Heart Association's Healing Hearts Society as a Champion Partner. The Healing Hearts Society celebrates and supports local researchers, scientists and physicians as they work to eradicate heart disease and stroke, the No.1 and No. 3 killers of all Americans. Bravo Health's partnership will directly help to advance heart-related education and research in the local community. Last year, thanks to the support of companies like Bravo Health, the American Heart Association contributed $30 million to research institutions in the Philadelphia and Baltimore areas.
"As a stroke survivor, I'm proud of Bravo Health's commitment to supporting the life-saving work funded by the American Heart Association," said Jason H. Feuerman, senior vice president and executive director, Bravo Health Pennsylvania and member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania American Heart Association board of directors. "If not for the tireless efforts of the researchers and scientists throughout the region who are breaking new ground in heart disease prevention and treatment, the devastation caused by heart disease and stroke would be significantly worse and much more prevalent throughout our population."
Bravo Health has demonstrated its commitment to promoting heart health through its Healthy Heart program, which educates its members about heart disease and provides valuable prevention and wellness options. Bravo Healthy Heart is a special needs plan with a $0 monthly plan premium, designed for Medicare beneficiaries with either high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol. The plan offers several benefits including free membership at participating fitness centers, and a $0 copay for many diagnostic procedures and tests as well as for many generic drugs prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure.
"With the support of corporate partners like Bravo Health, the American Heart Association continues to lead the way in life-saving research and education," said Terri Jones, senior vice president and executive director of the SEPA American Heart Association.
The Healing Heart Society's year-round activities offer opportunities for members and attendees to learn from and thank the researchers and scientists whose work advance the field of medicine, as well as the cardiologists, pulmonary specialists and neurosurgeons who put these developments into practice.
