Bravo Health Names Thomas Rekart Chief Administrative Officer
(BALTIMORE, MD — June 26, 2008) — Bravo Health, a company which operates Medicare Advantage plans and stand-alone prescription drug plans providing enhanced medical care to more than 195,000 members, today announced the appointment of Thomas Rekart to the position of chief administrative officer. Rekart officially joined Bravo Health in March of this year.
In his new role, Rekart manages the company's information technology and operations functions. He is responsible for oversight of Bravo Health's administrative platform including claims payment, grievance and appeals, membership accounting, and database management. As a member of the executive leadership team, Rekart directs more than 300 staff members and reports directly to Jeff Folick, chairman and chief executive officer of Bravo Health.
Prior to joining Bravo Health, Rekart worked at UnitedHealth Group, a Minnesota-based company, serving as chief operations officer and chief information officer of Group Benefit Solutions, an operating group within the company's Specialized Care Services.

At UnitedHealth Group, Rekart implemented decision support technology and systems to meet the company's financial and medical management business needs. Prior to UnitedHealth Group, he served as the senior vice president and chief information officer at CareFirst, Inc., a large health care insurer based in Owings Mills, Maryland. With more than 30 years of experience in health care, Rekart also held positions at Humana, Employers Health Insurance, and American States Insurance.

An Ellicott City resident, Rekart is a board member and leads the resource development committee for Congregations Concerned for the Homeless, an organization focused on the homeless in Howard County. He graduated from Marian College in Indiana with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and has conducted graduate work in industrial psychology at Western Michigan University.
