Bravo Health Achieves NCQA Accreditation
Nationally Recognized Accreditation Process Evaluates Quality of Health Care
(BALTIMORE, MD — October 27, 2009) — Bravo Health, a Medicare Advantage plan dedicated to providing beneficiaries access to high quality, cost-effective health care, today announced that it has achieved Commendable Health Plan Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for three years in the Mid-Atlantic, Pennsylvania and Texas markets.
"The NCQA HP Accreditation is widely accepted in the health care industry as a symbol of quality," said Jeff Folick, president and CEO of Bravo Health. "This is a significant accomplishment for Bravo Health and confirms that we are successfully meeting our goal to deliver high quality care and service to our members."
NCQA HP Accreditation evaluates how well a health plan manages all parts of its delivery system – physicians, hospitals, other providers and administrative services – in order to continuously improve the quality of care and services provided to its members. The standards are purposely set high to encourage health plans to continuously enhance their quality.
To achieve Commendable Accreditation, Bravo Health passed a rigorous and comprehensive review by NCQA which evaluated performance in the areas of Quality Improvement, Utilization Management, Credentialing, and Member Rights and Responsibilities.
"Achieving an accreditation status of Commendable from NCQA is a sign that a health plan is serious about quality," said Margaret E. O’Kane, president of NCQA. "It is awarded to plans whose service and clinical quality meet or exceed NCQA’s rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement."
