NPI Initiative

Effective May 1, 2008, Bravo Health complies with CMS regulations that require a valid National Provider Identifier on all submitted claims. This regulation pertains to both electronic (8371, and 837P) and paper (UB04 and CMS-1500) claims. All Part A and B claims submitted to Bravo Health must contain a valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) number in the primary provider fields, i.e., billing, pay-to provider, and /or rendering provider.

Timely Filing Period for Paper and Electronic Claims

The timely filing period for both paper and electronic claims, is on, or before, December 31 of the calendar year following the year in which the services were furnished. Services furnished in the last quarter of the year are considered furnished in the following year. Contracted providers may have different timely filing requirements and should refer to their contracts for more information.
